TAN SRI JOHAN JAFFAR - Former Chairman of DBP & Media Prima, National Journalism Laureate

“She wrote in Malay with precise grammar and near-perfect structure, and equally well in English. She was a teacher, a master of both languages. Her ability to fully harness her talents, not only as a bilingual writer but also as a novelist, was something to be emulated.”

PROF. DATO' DR. ADEEBA KAMARULZAMAN - President & Pro Vice-Chancellor, Monash University Malaysia

"As a Boomer, As I Was Passing was as much a part of my weekly ritual as looking forward to Lat’s cartoons in the same newspaper or watching the timeless films of P. Ramlee. Through her wit, warmth, and wisdom, Adibah Amin nurtured in me a deep love for prose and the broadsheet tradition. Her words, which so gracefully captured the rhythms and quirks of Malaysian life, deserve to be read, enjoyed, and remembered by generations to come."

CAROLINE LEONG - Retired School Teacher

"I remember I looked forward eagerly each week to reading the weekly column in the Straits Times, “As I Was Passing” by Seri Delima. I started reading in primary school and throughout secondary school. Before these columns were compiled into books, I made my own compilation. I cut out these columns and pasted them into a book so that I could reread them … Adibah Amin had this manner of people watching and writing of people ‘s quirks and mannerism in the most delightful way. And after close to 50 years, I must say my enjoyment of reading her articles have not abated even a little."
