Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman, President and Pro Vice‑Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia expressed the university’s pride in celebrating Adibah Amin’s enduring legacy and Malaysia’s rich literary heritage. While Monash is often associated with STEM, she affirmed its commitment to embracing Malaysia’s cultural achievements. Professor Adeeba contributed prominently to the foreword and a tribute phrase on the back cover of the commemorative edition of As I Was Passing, underscoring the timeless influence of Adibah’s work across generations.

An attentive audience listened in collective contemplation as Aishah Ali recalled how, in the aftermath of the 1969 racial riots, Adibah Amin’s writing became a quiet force of healing. A distinguished panel of literary personalities took the stage for an excerpts reading of As I Was Passing, delivering a deeply inspiring performance and reflective discourse. Their voluntary participation marked a heartfelt celebration of a literary milestone.

“Teach Adibah Amin’s works to foster unity,” urged Tan Sri Datuk Zainun Ali, Pro‑Chancellor of Universiti Malaya and a former Federal Court Judge. Speaking at A Tribute to Adibah Amin at Monash University Malaysia, she stressed that Adibah’s writings remain deeply relevant in a nation still grappling with race, religion, and social cohesion. Introducing her stories into the school curriculum, she said, would plant seeds of nationalism and tolerance in the hearts of young Malaysians. Adibah’s accessible style, which spoke across divides, offered lessons not just for her time but for all times—her footprints in the sands of Malaysia’s history will endure, guiding future generations toward unity and shared destiny.
